Portobello "Steaks" (Phase 1) E-mail

I have heard of this but never tried it till now. It was a very good meat substitute and I will continue using it as such. Baste each side of the mushroom with a bit of olive oil and season to taste, then grill for a few minutes on each side, stem side first. The longer you grill them, the firmer and crispier they get, so adjust to suit yourself. You can do these outdoors, or as I did on a counter top electric grill. I used a garlic-pepper blend to season and they were excellent.
